For miles and miles
the same song that keeps me awake from this careless dream driving these empty roads, where no man is ever been,
or so it seems...
the music, my friend
my eyes are travelling, my hands are the instruments
that that navigates this wild horse
my heart is the fuel, that drives this truck without
knowing, is it the beating she makes...
every truck needs a refill, once and a while
it's getting late, and I stop at the nearest truckstop
with my unwashed clothes
I get myself a 5 dollar dinner and I smoke another sigaret...I'm looking at the 45 year old lady at the
counter and asked myself how she looked like 20 years ago
She laughes, I wink and walk away, passing another truckdriver who is unwashed like me and we seem to recognize eachother, like an old friend that knows where you went...Sometimes you see lonelyness in eachother's eyes
only with truckdrivers this lonelyness shows no disguise
But, we are men! We don't complain, even if we get caught up in the rain...
On the road again! The lights went on, and the motor shows signs of life...As I see other truckdrivers just coming in, it's again time for me to begin
It's 12.35u
As I started driving, I opened my window
to see where the wind blows, caresses my face
I'm shifting gears! I watch the cars passing by
and hear the wind blowing in my ears
Still 12 hours from home
I can't stop smoking, noticing sometimes I talk to myself
Listening, singing the songs the radio plays
Sometimes I was so tired, that I started crying in the
middle of the night...But all streets are wired, and in
every darkness shines a light
The last couple of hours, I was no longer realizing that
I drove this engined powered horse
A couple of times, I was Lucky Luke, escaping death,
just by an inch...I saw a death man lying on the highway
on a dark, misty night...as my screaming tires stopped only
a few inches from his eyes, who looked right into mine
I stepped out of my car, and gave him my breathe
unfortunally too late, he was allready death
I started to realise the highway is nothing to be messed with and a raging truck is no boy toy
Another story is also frightening, but ended with joy
It was a dark, snowy night...It was hard to see where I went, there was nothing in sight...as this motorguy was passing me with on the back of his jacket a big star,
that you see in the sky...I was thinking, what the hell is he thinking...As I drove ninety, I wondered where he might be...From out of the nowhere I saw a falling star from the sky to the ground...before my eyes, is saw his frightening eyes telling me, what do you see
death through a mirror...
damned! Escape!
as I turned my wheel to the left, without checking my mirror...No time, before it's too late!
I passed him by an inch, he was still alive
I saw his frightening eyes looking at me
I shivered whole the way back
only this time this falling star was a sign of goodluck
Samen lachtten we verder...
