In a world not far from this
Where love is love
And hearts are bliss
Roamed a young and restless man.
Tall in stature and gentle in face
His mind a tempestuous sea.
Desperate to escape his father's place
Claudio, our hero, dreamt a plan.
At the stroke of midnight, under a full moon
Claudio snuck out into the cold night.
He hoped to reach the next village by noon
And mounting a black steed, he left his life behind.
Morning sun shone through wicked trees
And smoke could be seen on the horizon.
This air was a chilly breeze
But Claudio rode on, towards the promised warmth.
People stared at our hero as he rode on his steed
Through the streets and to a local inn.
He'd have to work for a room, but he agreed
And after a meal of beer and bread, he set to work.
Days turned into months and our hero grew tired
From morning to night the work left him shattered,
But it didn't stop him from what he most desired.
The maiden, Isabel.
Isabel, daughter of the inn-keeper
An angel that passed him daily as he shifted hay.
A graceful woman whose eyes penetrated deeper
Than any other.
Her blonde hair reflected back the silver light.
Kind was her voice and soothing her smile
But he couldn't be her knight
Because she was already promised to another.
