Born a young lad
Grew up without a dad
Far away from home
Far beyond that big, blue stone
That stone that formed the border
Yet nothing could withhold her
To come across and back to me,
And we did love and we were free
Yet freedom was not wholly mine
It would dissapear in due time
Such a time I rightly feared,
Seeing myself with a short-cut beard
That beard, I knew, would never go gray
Before that time I would go away
Slain on a field like some horrid beast
Who, on my roayl flesh, would richly feast
But that is still years from now
When still, to me, my people bow
I feel the glory that I received
On that glorious night I was conceived
Under these stars, my people live,
And eat and sleep and take and give
Give all that's theirs, all they have
Loving their king, even in death
his love I long ago earned
When for a new king, the people yearned
I fought hard for all of my land
And made sure we now still stand
I merried the girl from beyond the stone
And, on this side of the border, gave her a home
In which she wuold always be warm and save
Alas, she still longede heavily for that cave
For that cave in which she was brought up
Her long and weary longing could not stop
Upon being taken into my loving castle, build
So big that most of the valley it filled
Now enemies have reached our peaceful shores
And towards my castle have they sat course
To kill me and my knights, it's what they want
And by this news my dear wife is stunned
She has bore me a son to take up my place
When to the heavens I will turn my face
But he fights by my side, against the pleas of my wife
And so I die to save his dear life
I wish I could tell him that I love him so,
So much that he can't possibly ever know
But, alas, time for that is far to short
But he wins the battle and becomes the new lord,
And the king of my country!
