Soul food
Take a poets soul
And slice it
Cut it into little pieces
Mix with sorrow
To provide
Just a little bitter taste
Put into a pan
And stir
Till you hear it scream no more
Stir real lightly
Cook it swiftly
Before the taste goes bad
Serve with just a touch of lemon,
And don’t let it get cold
Because the soul will quench each hunger
And a poets most of all.
