If Summer's caught
A midwinter's eve
clenched between his teeth
Would blood be colored
White as snow
Or black as pearls may be?
Or doth it be
For reasons that
Are folly, bound or blind
That blood as tears
Yet colored black
Is dripping from my mind?
Oh, Why let others
Cheer Thee up
Whileas Thy future life
Is bound to me
By both of us
Thou'st vowed to be my wife?
The night, can she
Be blamed to be
So far away at day?
Or do we curse
The sun to be
Aflame to our dismay?
And what of woods
That stand so tall
Dost Thou hurt them because
The branches break
And tumble down
And brown, the leaves are lost?
No hold it not
Against all earth
That distance, fear and loss
Are part of life
Please hold to love
Defend it at all cost
If spoken things
Upset thy soul
Don't hesitate, no please
Speak them to me
A cure to find
Perhaps a life of ease
How could I change
What Thou doth need
If Thou sayest the least?
And without rules
How must I tell
A tale to have Thee pleased?
If rest I must
'T is what I will
Whatever Thou desirest
And rest with me
For all it seems
Long lives can make one tired
Awake refreshed
Return to me
Thy smiles, laughs and chortle
Have me coiled
In loving warmth
Once more make me immortal
I beg Thee here
With life and love
My fingerprints my blood
My life my skin
My kindled soul
My tears my crying heart
