Lying on a bed of white feathers is how she was found,
Wings broken and sprawled across the ground.
Her last smile dead on her lips.
A single tear, blue as the morning sky
Lies frozen within the corner of her eye.
A rose,
Withered in her hands, lying there as a token,
Of a promise that wasn’t meant to be broken.
And just a few steps away
He’s fallen down on his knees,
Muttering silent pleas.
Knowing they’ll never be answered,
He slowly grasps his knife
Guiding it up his chest to end his life.
As his body slowly drops next to hers,
Feathers start to turn scarlet red,
Forming the last shared bed,
Of something that wasn’t ever meant to be
Both knew the cost,
Their souls now forever lost.
Bound between heaven and earth
Never to rise again.
